Red Dead Redemption 2 surprise announcement met with backlash from GTA 6 fans.

Gm5DVuHXcAEG660.jpgAfter a week of anticipation, March 25th finally arrived—the day everyone was convinced Rockstar Games would drop the next Grand Theft Auto VI trailer, based on the latest internet theories.

Then, at 2 p.m. on that very day, as promised by the GTA VI community, Rockstar Games’ Twitter account revealed our first official look at something long-awaited... a Red Dead Redemption 2 online event.

I don’t know about you, but I love it when we get anything Red Dead. Honestly, I doubt Rockstar intentionally planned this just to mess with the people holding onto the March 25 theory, but it’s pretty funny that they dropped something related to Red Dead Online instead.

The r/GTA6 community, however, didn’t find it quite as amusing. Based on reactions in a thread on the subreddit, it’s clear they weren’t thrilled. But it wasn’t really Rockstar they were upset with—it seemed more like frustration aimed at their own community for building up these wild expectations, only to be disappointed again.

One user, electro_gretzky, put it best: “It’s truly amazing to watch the psychotic mental gymnastics swing farther and farther out just to crash land in the exact same place every. single. time.”

Another user, nowhere2run4, pointed out, “Every time people come up with a new theory, they drop something completely unrelated on that exact same date.”
Some users are even advising others to just stop with the endless theories altogether.

It’s nice to see the r/GTA6 community showing a bit of self-awareness now, especially after months of chaos. Of course, everyone’s eager for new info on the game, but they only have themselves to blame for building up so much needless hype, only to be let down time after time.

And wouldn’t you know it—they’ve already moved on to a new theory, with many now convinced Rockstar will release the second GTA VI trailer on April Fool’s Day. Thankfully, it seems like fewer people are jumping on this one, so we can hope for less disappointment next time.
